Barbara, Manager. Barbara has been a part of the Bow-Wow team since September 2003. She came to us from NYC where she was the kennel manager at the Humane Society of NY in Manhattan for six years. In that time she also apprenticed with a theatrical dog trainer. Previous to her work in NYC, she worked at the Humane Society in Milwaukee for a year where she learned how to evaluate dogs for potential adoptions. Barbara has a cat named Bella and a Shepherd mix called MaMa.
Liz, Assistant Manager. Liz joined our team in December 2006. She comes to us after ten years in the pet supply business. Liz has three Labs; Ruby, Gillian and Dell. She has gained much of her experience with dogs through training and showing her Labs. Liz spends most of her spare time working with her dogs to prepare them for shows. She also devotes her time to the Greater Pittsburgh Labrador Retriever Club. Through this group, Liz does companion animal visits, therapy dog work, and all sorts of dog training.
Julie, Key Dog Handler. Julie has been with Bow-Wow since June 2006. Julie came to us after working at a local Pet Resort for three years. In addition to her kennel and dog daycare work experience, Julie is also an experienced groomer. She currently works part-time at The Kennel outside of Sewickley. Julie has a toy Poodle named Sullivan, a turtle named Murphy and a hamster called Llama. In her spare time, she manages a feral cat colony in her neighborhood.
Alison, Dog Handler. Alison has been with us since January 2007. She came to us wanting to work with dogs in a group environment hoping to gain insight into her own group of dogs at home. Alison and her family own two Old English Sheepdogs; Lady and Ivory, and a miniature Schnauzer named Ebony. Alison has been working with a personal dog trainer over the last year to better control her pack at home. Her work with her own dogs and time spent learning from her trainer has given Alison great insight into dog behavior.
Due to our high safety standards, all our dog handlers are trained to understand dog pack behavior and to differentiate appropriate play behavior from inappropriate or aggressive play. THE SAFETY OF OUR DAYCARE DOGS IS OUR TOP PRIORITY. We pride ourselves on our HIGH SAFETY STANDARDS and our extensive employee training program.
